Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) announced its return to Lagos from Friday, December 6 to Sunday, December 8 to celebrate African fashion and cultural innovation.

This year’s event, themed “The Power & Beauty of Eko,” will present the latest collections from leading African designers, alongside interactive exhibitions and exclusive sessions, engaging a global audience in the transformative power of African fashion.

“This 10th-anniversary edition is not only a celebration of fashion but a celebration of African innovation, creativity, and impact on the global stage,” said Queen Ronke Ademiluyi Ogunwusi, Founder of Africa Fashion Week Nigeria and Africa Fashion Week London.

IFFIZI is a Belgian-Nigerian fashion brand that blends African fabrics with European fashion influences. The brand was co-founded by Sandra Alonge, who serves as its creative director. IFFIZI is a power tandem coming together to build a sustainable and innovative brand, with a vision for a just, creative and colorful future based on fair trade.

IFFIZI focuses on creating clothing for women who embrace their individuality and identity, offering both ready-to-wear and custom-made pieces that are stylish and comfortable enough to wear from morning to night. Fabrics are custom-made according to Yoruba tradition and cotton print Ankara.

Sandra started making her own clothes as a young teenager and has worked both in development and fashion communication before falling in love with African fabrics. She is inspired by minimalism with references to retro styles and abstract patterns in bright colors. IFFIZI is fashion fusion inspired by the positive impact of globalization and a new cultural identity across continents.

The name “IFFIZI” reflects a mix of Nigerian and European cultures, drawing inspiration from both the famous Uffizi Gallery in Italy and “efizi,” a Yoruba slang word meaning trendy or stylish. The brand’s tagline, “Na shakara,” embodies bold elegance, referencing Fela Kuti’s famous song “Shakara” to signify confidence and beauty.

IFFIZI has gained recognition by participating in prestigious events like the Africa Fashion Week in London, where it presented its 2024 Spring-Summer collection. In November 2023, IFFIZI opened its showroom in Abuja. IFFIZI was also showcased in Abuja on Friday 28 June 2024 on the EU Common Courtyard, at the occasion of the celebration of the end of the Belgian presidency of the European Union.

In October 2024, IFFIZI launched its 2025 spring-summer collection, themed “Light my Fire” at Africa Fashion Week London.

IFFIZI will open the 8pm show on Saturday 7 December at Oriental Hotel in Lagos.
