Nigerian Afro-soul musician Maka presents the video for Chocolate Love on 2 June.
Her new single off her critically acclaimed project ‘It’s Not You, It’s Me’ which was released last November is one of listeners favourites.
Maka’s soothing and colourful style of music, outstanding, jazzy and catchy sound arrangement is fully present in ‘Chocolate Love’. The memorable bobbing baseline pulls the listener into the groove.
In her continued promotion of black art, Maka highlights the beauty, energy and joy of being black using metaphors and references associated with “chocolate” in her video. In a time where black pain is amplified more than ever, with proportionally the highest casualties of COVID-19 in the US and the incessant killing of black citizens by the police leading to civil unrest, the visuals aim to be a source of escapism and pride.
