Nigerian afro-pop singer and songwriter, Ona Dema premieres a new single titled ‘Krazy’ on the Sony Music Entertainment West Africa label on 30 July.

It has been one year since Ona Dema signed with the international music label which birthed her debut single ‘No Time’ ft Dremo to a wild reception from fans, the track has been on constant airplay, earning the songstress a successful arrival to the Nigerian music scene with favorable placements across playlist platforms.

Produced by Marvey Muzique, ‘Krazy’ is a sonorous rendition of the outright rejection of being disrespected in a relationship. The track blends afrobeats and R&B in a bopping rhythmic effect imitating the sound of the heartbeat and delivered in Ona Dema’s canary-like vocals. “I have seen situations where a guy takes advantage of a girl because she cares too much. So in a way, I am speaking for many of us who are tired of being taken for granted”, Ona Dema said, recounting some dating and relationship experiences.

Real name Onaedo Obiekwe, Ona Dema is stamping her no-nonsense style of lyrics, her music is a reflection of her personal experiences and the environmental elements that influence them. Influenced by Fela Kuti, Lagbaja, Beyonce, Sia, these musical greats helped sharpen her musical craft and finesse her skills in vocal delivery, stage showmanship and lyrical writing.

Ona Dema went on an extensive boot camp series from songwriting to vocal development and experimenting different sounds with a variety of producers, she described the process as “pretty tasking but also very exciting.” Fresh out of that experience, Ona Dema has channeled her energy into ‘Krazy’, a message her fans will find relatable.
