On our latest Photo of the week edition, we focus on one of the most important resources in the world, water.

The image brings to mind the importance of access to clean water for all. To open the water tap and water flows from it brings a soothing feeling to the heart. Water is essential to life. However, according to the World Health Organization, 2.2 billion people still lack access to safe drinking water. The United Nations declared access to clean water and sanitation as a human right, but this right is still not a reality for many.

In many places, the infrastructure on ground, but not working to its full capacity or lying moribund.

The issue of lack of access to clean water affects people in several ways,  health, education, and economic opportunities.

In a fast growing economy as Nigeria, the government is bound to make drinking water accessible to the populace. By understanding the importance of water and the challenges that people face in accessing it, we can help ensure that everyone, no matter where they live, has access to this basic human right.
