Our Photo of the Week series continues with rephotography of old and new iconic areas of Lagos.

The older photo is of Falomo Bridge, looking at Awolowo road with the photographer backing the Police barracks . For viewers familiar with the site, the former Falomo Shopping Complex can be seen behind the National Filling station, still there and now AP. To the left, in-between the pillars was the office of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, which is now the MTN head office. Falomo bridge pillars can be seen in the new picture with murals by British-Nigerian artist Polly Alakija.

Top photo, courtesy of the Nigerian Nostalgia Project – was taken by Lillian Trager -University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries. While the rephotography is by Eyes of a Lagos Boy from the same angle 39 years later.
