IFFIZI fashion show at celebration of Belgian Presidency of EU in Abuja

IFFIZI was showcased in Abuja on Friday 28 June at the EU Delegation, at the occasion of the celebration of the Belgian presidency of the European Union. Guests were dazzled by the colors and styles – dedicated to Nigeria (green), European Union (blue) and of course the national colors of Belgium (black, yellow, red).

IFFIZI is fashion for bold and fabulous people, made in Nigeria.  IFFIZI works with African fabrics and tailoring, infused with European style. IFFIZI is a Belgian-Nigerian power tandem coming together to build a sustainable and innovative brand, with a vision for a just, creative and colorful future based on fair trade.

The name of the brand mixes Nigerian and European culture, referring to the UFFIZI gallery in Florence, Italy and EFIZI in Yoruba slang, meaning cool, trendy, stylish. The tagline – Na shakara – signifies drop dead gorgeous and is also a reference to one of Fela Kuti’s hits.

At the event, IFFIZI co-founder Moradeke Badru represented Sandra Alonge, IFFIZI’s creative director. “Sandra and I brainstormed together in New York back in 2016 when we first started talking about this project. I am delighted to see how far we have come. We have participated in the Africa Fashion week in London in October 2023 and will be there again this autumn. More events in Abuja and Lagos will follow. We extend our warmest appreciation for this opportunity to the Belgian Ambassador, Mr Pieter Leenknegt, the team of the embassy in Abuja, the European delegation for this wonderful event and all the IFFIZI ladies in the house.”

IFFIZI is a brand for working women of today, who want to look fabulous from morning to night, feminine and self-confident. IFFIZI uses local fabrics, combining locally produced prints in ankara and custom-made adire, as well as other materials that are easy to wear.

The handbags presented at the show are made in Lagos by another female owned business – Qamin. Their bags come in all shapes and sizes in traditional Aso Ake materials.

“Make sure to follow us on Instagram – IFFIZI style and Facebook IFFIZI. We regularly organize open days at our showroom in Abuja but are also happy to meet you anytime convenient for you. Just reach out so we can make sure your wardrobe will put a smile on your face.”
