Nigerian Afrobeats and multiple awards winning superstar, Wizkid announced the release of his latest project, Made In Lagos on 30 October.
Made In Lagos is delivered on all streaming platforms via Starboy/Sony Music International/RCA Records. The album is anticipated to engulf its listeners in the unique sounds, live instrumentation and colourful, mellow vibes of the city of Lagos – A celebration of Wizkid’s love and appreciation for where he comes from.
His inspirational journey is highlighted in tracks such as ‘Blessed’,’Reckless’. Others are, ‘Ginger’ feat. Burna Boy, earlier released single featuring H.E.R., ‘Smile’, ‘Mighty Wine’, ‘Longtime’ feat. Skepta, ‘Blessed’ feat. Damian Marley, ‘Piece of Me’ feat. Ella Mai, ‘No Stress’ and other soothing Wizkid signature, a perfectly aligned combination of Afrobeats, reggae and R&B.
The 14-track album originally scheduled for release on 15 October features an impressive group of international chart-topping artists – Burna Boy, Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R., Ella Mai and Starboy Entertainment’s youngest signee Terri.
Wizkid, undoubtedly one of Nigeria’s top artists, dedicates the project to the citizens of Nigeria in light of the protests against police brutality occurring in the country. “It has been beautiful to see Nigerians around the world coming together to protest against police brutality, unity is key. The youth of Nigeria need our collective voices to continue to shine a spotlight on what is happening inside the country.” Wizkid continues, “I want to play my part in this and in the movement for a better Nigeria, a better place to live for ourselves, our families – our communities. We will get through this together. Together we move. #endSARS.”
Wizkid’s last EP, Soundman Vol 1 was released unannounced last December via his record label, Starboy Entertainment. The seven-track EP with vocals by Wizkid, featured artists that include, Chronixx, Blaq Jerzee, Kel P, London and DJ Tunez. It has been enjoying massive global airplay.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, Wizkid was unveiled as the the new Puma x JD ambassador for the relaunch of the Puma Suede Classics range. The afrobeats star revealed “Puma is a brand I’ve loved and respected growing up, so the decision to become an Ambassador felt completely natural. The Puma Suede is a classic shoe that can be worn by anyone at any age and I think my fans will really connect with that.’
