Enter: King Gzie’s grand entry

King Gzie won the award for Hiplife/ Hip Hop Artist of the Year award at the Global Music Awards in Ghana.

King Gzie, Nigerian award-winning Afro pop star released the video of his internet sensation single titled ‘Enter’ on 20 March.

‘Enter’ is a song that calls out an emotional request and yearning to have the key to his lover’s heart. King Gzie’s mastery of the vocals in a sonorous mix is displayed in the colorful music video shot in an isolated amusement Park in Lagos. ‘Enter’ is surely an anthem that is not yet halted in its upward trajectory and is enjoying constant airplay. As the world is set to slowly start opening up despite the COVID lockdowns and restrictions, ‘Enter’ is the apt song to re-enter new beginnings and possibilities.

Last weekend, King Gzie won the award for Hiplife/ Hip Hop Artist of the Year at the Global Music Awards held in Ghana, alongside Grammy awards winner Burna Boy, Kwami Eugene, Bella Shmurder. He beat Nick Mba (Equatorial Guinea), Leczy (Nigeria) Minks (Cameroon), Nanky (Ghana) to bag the coveted headset plaque.

In a statement after receiving the award, King Gzie said ‘It is a big deal for me to have gotten such recognition – the winner of the award for the Hip Hop Artist of the Year. Big thanks to my fans all over the world and a big shout-out to my mother, she has been a very supportive, thanks to my friends and family”.

In 2020, King Gzie was signed to Skylevel Records and delivered the hit single ‘Enter’. The song became an internet anthem accompanied by its dance challenge where fans post videos of themselves dancing to ‘Enter’. King Gzie gained recognition which gave him a edge in the music industry as social media influencers Tunde Ednut, Sydney Talker, Nastyblaq, Oluwadollar, Zicoaloma, Okiki and many more have posted videos showing love for ‘Enter’.

Rotimi Oluwagbenga from the Mile 2 area of Lagos was formerly known as Solem Gzie. His musical career kicked off in 2012 when he released ‘Monini’, followed by ‘Ego’ in 2014 with producer Spax Classic. King Gzie has worked with hit makers including Morachi, Omo akin, Faze and several others. In 2018, he released ‘Body’, along with the name change from Solem to King Gzie.

King Gzie, who is now an independent artist promises more hits song as he will be dropping his EP soon.
