Every day is women’s day, but it remains important to celebrate the contribution of women to every aspect of society. While women are powerful drivers of the economy, there is still a long way to go to achieve gender equality and equity for all. Especially in terms of political representation, a lot more needs to be done. At the recently concluded general election in Nigeria, less than 9% of the candidates were women. This has to change if policies are to be gender inclusive. Women need a seat at the table since their needs and aspirations have to be taken into account.
To all working women, traders, school girls and fabulous slay queens out there – Happy 8 March! Continue to be strong, brave, beautiful, intelligent, powerful, loving, happy and healthy!
