Aerial shot of Bourdillon Road Ikoyi, Lagos – Eyes of a Lagos Boy

Eyes of a Lagos Boy Photo of the Week series is an aerial cityscape picture of Ikoyi, prominently showing Bourdillon Road cutting through straight to Lekki Ikoyi Link Bridge in the Background.

Bourdillon Road is a prominent and highly sought-after location in Lagos. Known for its luxurious properties and upscale lifestyle, this road has become synonymous with prestige and elegance. Its proximity to other upscale neighborhoods – Victoria Island and Lekki allows residents to enjoy even more amenities such as world-class hotels, golf courses, beaches, and entertainment venues.

Named after the colonial leader and Governor General of Nigeria from 1935 to 1943, Sir Bernard Bourdillon. The affluent neighborhood is home to some of the most exclusive residences, diplomatic quarters, and high-end commercial establishments. One of the notable residents of this road is the current Commander-in-Chief of the federation, President Bola Tinubu.

The photo shows the rich vegetation of that part of the city. Ikoyi has managed to stay green over the decades despite the expansion and high rise apartment buildings springing up in different parts. Bourdillon road is well-maintained and lined with trees, adding to its charm.
