Femi Anikulapo Kuti has announced the release of the second track, ‘After 24 Years’ from his forthcoming album, Journey Through Life.
The leader of The Positive Force Band wrote on a social media post, “I am happy to announce I have a new album coming out soon called Journey Through Life which you can Pre-order now via the link in bio but while you wait you can listen to my new single ‘After 24 Years’ out on all streaming platforms.
‘After 24 years’- summarizes the last 24 years of our leadership in Nigeria (1999 to 2023). The king of afrobeat continues, “Since my track ‘Sorry Sorry’ was released in 1998 on the album Shoki Shoki, where I sang that our politicians and soldiers were one and the same, Nigeria went into another democratic dispensation in 1999. True to the words of the track our politicians have proven me right, that they govern as bad as the military dictatorship.”
”After 24 years was written and the recording completed in November 2023, releasing the track took nearly two years. Unfortunately not much has changed except we are two years from when it was recorded. But for historical purposes it’s important I don’t change the dates of the lyrics of the recording, as that was my state of mind then. I’m sure my future albums will always address politically, socially, and globally my state of mind from 2023 onwards.”
